These are some of our favourite wines to make. This Caberent Sauvingon is deep red/purple in colour. The bouquet is ripe and attractively varietal, with classic violet, blueberry, mulberry and cassis aromas, and these flavours re-appear throughout the palate. Brave Souls GSM is crimson red in colour, with lifted youthful redberry, cinnamon and anise spice aromas. A delicious, fleshy and rounded Grenache based wine with silky tannins and texture. A wine approachable upon release, but - like all pedigree GSM wines - has the ability to mature well for the medium to longer term.

Cottenham - Brave Souls Riesling

Brave Souls is the creation of young winemaker Julia Weirich, in collaboration with Simon Cowham and Corey Ryan of Sons of Eden. The name is inspired by the story of the famous Admella shipwreck of 1859 and spotlights the remarkable accounts of those characters who risked their lives to help the survivors. Iconic Australian artist Bruce Goold generously agreed to visualise the tales of these Brave Souls for the project’s labels.

Cottenham - Sons of Eden Shiraz

Winemaker Corey Ryan and Viticulturist Simon Cowham are the ‘Sons of Eden’, who both learned and honed their skills in the Barossa Valley. The team focusses on varieties that the Barossa produces to the highest standards, such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre from the Barossa Valley as well as Riesling from the Eden Valley. Sons of Eden wines are crafted using carefully managed and selected fruit as well as a mixture of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. The wines are paying tribute to the pioneers, characters and rich traditions of the Barossa region.

Gipsie Jack - Cabernet Sauvignon

Inky black core showing excellent colour saturation with a deep dark red black hue. Aromas of blackcurrant tinged with a mixture of liquorice and bay leaf flow from the glass. Cedary tobacco and spice notes ensue. Medium to full bodied, rich flavours of blackcurrant and liquorice are overlaid by some fairly prominent toasty cedar and spice. Bright acidity and firmish tannins provide structure. Slightly charred aftertaste.

Gipsie Jack - Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grapes for this wine have come from the only block of Chardonnay we have left in the Meechi vineyard at Langhorne Creek. The vines were planted back in the 1980’s and the vineyard is located centrally in the region, virtually in the township. The soils are free draining, aluvial sandy loam over a red clay layer.

Gipsie Jack - Pinot Grigio

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Lifted ripe pear and green apple aromas are followed by some flinty citrus end notes. Simple pear and apple flavours overlay traces of dried honey and citrus. Clean dry, vibrant finish. Nicely rounded textural feel with an aftertaste of pears, apples, subtle dried honey and citrus spice.

Gipsie Jack - Sauvignon Blanc

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. The nose displays tropical fruit and citrus aromas followed by hints of green apple and faint herbaceous characters. Light and fresh with moderate concentration the palate has flavours of passionfruit, green apple and citrus over delicate herbaceous mineral elements. Finishes dry with crisp acidity and an aftertaste of passionfruit, green apples and citrusy mineral.
