Gipsie Jack - Cabernet Sauvignon
Inky black core showing excellent colour saturation with a deep dark red black hue. Aromas of blackcurrant tinged with a mixture of liquorice and bay leaf flow from the glass. Cedary tobacco and spice notes ensue. Medium to full bodied, rich flavours of blackcurrant and liquorice are overlaid by some fairly prominent toasty cedar and spice. Bright acidity and firmish tannins provide structure. Slightly charred aftertaste.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine have come from the only block of Chardonnay we have left in the Meechi vineyard at Langhorne Creek. The vines were planted back in the 1980’s and the vineyard is located centrally in the region, virtually in the township. The soils are free draining, aluvial sandy loam over a red clay layer.
Gipsie Jack - Pinot Grigio
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. Lifted ripe pear and green apple aromas are followed by some flinty citrus end notes. Simple pear and apple flavours overlay traces of dried honey and citrus. Clean dry, vibrant finish. Nicely rounded textural feel with an aftertaste of pears, apples, subtle dried honey and citrus spice.
Gipsie Jack - Sauvignon Blanc
Brilliant very pale straw colour with a watery hue. The nose displays tropical fruit and citrus aromas followed by hints of green apple and faint herbaceous characters. Light and fresh with moderate concentration the palate has flavours of passionfruit, green apple and citrus over delicate herbaceous mineral elements. Finishes dry with crisp acidity and an aftertaste of passionfruit, green apples and citrusy mineral.
Deep red/purple in colour, the Shiraz has a very lifted, floral nose with dense blackcurrant and blackberry fruit at the fore, along with some liquorice, chocolate and choc/berry notes. The nose is quite primary and fresh. The palate has a thick core of briary, tarry, dark berry fruit with some licorice and chocolate. The wine displays good length with some lovely chewy tannin and a nice bit of quality sweet oak on the finish.
